Biography: Munson appeared in 47 games for the Triple-A Portland to start 2010 and batted .201 with 14 runs, 27 hits and 20 RBI. The San Diego native played in a River Cats uniform for Triple-A Sacramento in 2009 amassing 50 runs, 93 hits and 68 RBI in 99 games. He received a late-season call up to Oakland taking Dallas Braden’s roster spot. Munson recorded career-highs as a member of Double-A Erie in runs (88), hits (135), doubles (35), home runs (26) and RBI (102) during the 2001 season.
The 32-year-old has played a total of eight seasons in the Majors, hitting .214 with 49 home runs and 147 RBI in 360 career games. Munson enjoyed time at the major league level with the Athletics, Tigers, Rays, and Astros. In addition, he holds a .263 career minor league average with 417 runs, 694 hits, including 127 home runs, and 484 RBI in nine seasons. Munson, who now resides in Chandler, Arizona, was selected by Detroit in the first round of the 1999 amateur entry draft. |
