The cold and snow is hitting Newark hard and keeping the thought of winter in our heads. Don't you just long for springtime when the weather is warmer, flowers are in bloom, and the sound of bat hitting ball fills air?

Tim Raines and The Newark Bears are proud to announce that Armando Benitez and Tike Redman have both been signed to Major League affiliates for the Houston Astros and the Milwaukee Brewers, respectively. A record fourteen Bears players from the 2009 roster have been signed to Major League affiliate contracts. |

3B/2B/OF Andres Perez signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers and is scheduled to be in the California League (High – A). He will play for the Inland Empire 66ers, where Manny Ramirez just did his rehab stint.
